FIDES is seeking an experienced Chief Technology Officer (CTO) Consultant to serve as an Interim VP/CTO for a healthcare client in the Mid-Atlantic Area. This role will provide strategic technology leadership and operational oversight to support enterprise IT initiatives and digital transformation across the health system. Only candidates with strong CTO experience with a major hospital/healthcare system should apply.

The ideal candidate will bring deep experience leading healthcare technology organizations and will serve as a trusted advisor to executive leadership, aligning technology strategy with clinical, operational, and business priorities. This role requires a strong ability to evaluate current technology environments, guide modernization initiatives, and ensure that technology investments support high-quality patient care and organizational performance.

This is a hybrid role with 50% onsite presence required.

Key Responsibilities:

• Serve as Interim CTO providing executive leadership across IT infrastructure, enterprise applications, cybersecurity, and data platforms.
• Develop and refine the organization’s technology strategy aligned with clinical, operational, and business objectives.
• Assess the current IT environment and recommend modernization strategies, including cloud adoption, data architecture, and platform optimization.
• Partner with clinical, operational, and executive leadership to ensure technology investments support care delivery and patient experience.
• Provide governance and oversight of major IT initiatives, vendor relationships, and enterprise architecture decisions.
• Ensure strong cybersecurity, data protection, and regulatory compliance across technology systems.
• Guide technology teams through organizational change, transformation initiatives, and operational improvements.
• Establish performance metrics and KPIs to evaluate IT operations, service delivery, and technology investments.

Qualifications:

• Proven experience serving as CTO, VP of Technology, or senior IT executive within complex and large healthcare organizations is a must.
• Strong background in enterprise IT leadership, infrastructure, cloud strategy, telecommunication, user experience champion, and digital transformation initiatives.
• Experience overseeing complex healthcare technology ecosystems, including EHR platforms, enterprise systems, and clinical applications.
• Demonstrated ability to align technology strategy with business and clinical priorities.
• Experience advising executive leadership and boards on technology strategy and investment decisions.
• Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills across clinical, operational, and technical teams.
• Experience leading large-scale technology organizations or transformation initiatives within health systems.

Preferred Skills:

• Experience serving in an interim or consulting executive leadership role.
• Familiarity with healthcare regulatory environments, including HIPAA, data privacy, and healthcare interoperability frameworks.
• Experience supporting cloud modernization initiatives across Azure, AWS, or hybrid environments.
• Advanced degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related field.
